Studies have found that children of parents with substance use disorders are at increased risk for abuse or neglect; involvement in the child welfare system; emotional, mental health, and academic problems; deficits in social skills; and overall impairment in functioning.

Jasper County, Iowa faces an alarming challenge, where in 2022 a staggering 89% of founded child abuse reports are directly linked to illegal narcotics, whether present in the child's home, used by parents, or resulting in the child testing positive for a substance. This troubling statistic highlights the urgent need for intervention and support to protect our community's most vulnerable members: the children.

The Open Arms Foundation of Jasper County was founded in 2023. We are deeply committed to the well-being of the community we serve, and our programs are tailored to address the unique needs of Jasper County children and families.
