PROGRAMS & PROJECTS.
The Open Arms Foundation offers a variety of programs and projects that are designed to help vulnerable children and families in Jasper County.
First Night Backpacks
The Open Arms Foundation provides backpacks filled with essential items that a child might need during their initial entry into foster care. Our dedicated volunteers curate these backpacks with toiletry and hygiene items, new pajamas, snacks, and age-appropriate activities. The goal is to ensure that from their very first day in foster care, children feel loved, cared for, and supported, knowing that someone is praying for them.
Family Visitation Location
Our physical office location - the Open Arms Resource Center - acts as a visitation space for families when visits need to be supervised. This space is thoughtfully designed with age-appropriate toys, activities, and sensory items to create a healing atmosphere. Our goal is to facilitate positive interactions between children and their birth families, helping to build and strengthen healthy family bonds.
Clothing and Resource Room
Our Resource Center includes a dedicated room stocked with essential items such as clothes, shoes, toys, and baby items. This room serves foster and kinship families, as well as birth families during reunification, by providing the practical necessities needed as children transition into their new homes. By alleviating these physical needs, we empower families to focus on welcoming children with joy and confidence, promoting a smoother transition process.
Fortiefying Foster Families (F3)
DreamCycles
Not everyone can be a Foster Family, but everyone can help. Our F3 Program leverages community resources to empower Foster Families to provide exceptional care to Foster Children.
We plan to turn dreams into reality. With "DreamCycles," at-risk children experiencing foster care can own a bicycle, promoting inclusion and a sense of belonging within their communities.
